SERIOUS RISK - MEDICATION COMBINATION
⚠ PROPOSED TEXT - PHARMACIST SIGN-OFF PENDING
Taking an opioid pain medication and a sedative, sleep medication, or anti-anxiety medication together can slow your breathing to dangerous levels or stop it completely, even at doses that are safe on their own.
The medications involved:
- Codeine 30mg (Tylenol #3)
- Lorazepam (benzodiazepine)
What to do right now
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist about this combination before your next dose. Do not stop taking either medication on your own without speaking to your doctor first.
IF SOMEONE IS UNRESPONSIVE OR BREATHING SLOWLY OR NOT AT ALL
Call 911 immediately. Tell them it may be an opioid overdose.
Ontario's Good Samaritan Drug Overdose Act protects you from simple possession charges if you call 911 for an overdose. You will not get in trouble for calling for help.
